Congenital Heart Disease (October 2008)
This learning package has been specifically designed for registered nurses and midwives working within a Level 1 or Level 2 hospital who may be required to provide care for a neonate presenting with suspected congenital heart disease (CHD) whilst awaiting transfer to a tertiary hospital. The scope of the package is such that it would be of benefit to nurses working in any setting who are seeking more information about neonatal CHD.
The goal of the Congenital Heart Disease learning and resource package is to facilitate the recognition and effective stabilization of the neonate with suspected CHD prior to transfer.
The package includes: topic overviews, readings, a copy of the Royal Children's Hospital Cardiac Handbook, case studies and pre and post tests.
