Emergency Services

What will NETS require?

  • Completed NETS paperwork:
    • Perinatal History Sheet 
    • Consent for Transfer and Treatment Sheet (signed & witnessed)

  • Photocopies of relevant records and pathology results (maternal & baby's)

  •  X-Rays (copied, if original must remain at the referring hospital)

  • Pathology specimens: (Appropriately labeled, double bagged and with a signed pathology request form completed):
    • 10 ml of maternal blood in a plain tube (name & signature of the blood collector MUST be included on the form)
    • Cord blood if available (in a plain tube)
    • Placenta if available

It is of great assistance to the NETS team if the following resources can be provided in a designated area of the nursery: 

  • Adequate space for the NETS transport incubator (2 metres2)
  • A pre-warmed radiant warmer with adequate lighting
  • Access to two oxygen and one medical air wall outlets (or cylinders) with high flow metres attached
  • Suction apparatus and a supply of Y suction catheters
  • Additional power outlets (up to 4 required)
  • A procedure trolley
  • A sharps container & a rubbish bin
  • Telephone (preferably portable/cordless)
  • Access to an X-ray viewing board
  • Extra stock of syringes and needles
  • Supply of gloves (sterile and disposable)
